Welcome¶
This website hosts detailed descriptions of the aerosol microphysics parameterizations in versions 1 and 2 of the Energy Exascale Earth System Model (E3SM). The parameterizations described here are a part of the Modal Aerosol Module (MAM). MAM is a suite of aerosol physics and chemistry parameterizations designed for simulating global aerosol life cycles at time scales relevant for climate research. The suite was first developed in the Community Atmosphere Model version 5 (CAM5). It was then inherited and has been further developed by E3SM and related projects.
